US Tour #5

After a few days at home and the turning of a decade for me, it was off to Columbia, Maryland for the first show of what will most likely be the last US run for the Day & Age touring schedule. As time was at a premium this time around there was no rehearsals and no pre-production time for me to get the show programmed as we were changing quite a lot of things this time around, we loaded in at 1am the night before the show as soon as Blink 182 were finished and packed down. I did get to watch all of Weezer's set as they were second the bill to Blink, and in my opinion, blew them off the stage really. Very much the definition of an hour long greatest hits set.

The first show went ok, with the big confetti gag making a welcome return to the show after being absent for the summer shows.

Next day we were off to Jones Beach, New York.

It was a beautiful day and thankfully it was nowhere near as cold as it was when we played here 4 years on the HOT FUSS Tour.
It is a nice location for a show even if it is in the middle of nowhere really.

Unfortunately due to some technical problems, this was not a good show for me. Some computer issues rendered my huge screen at the back of the stage useless right up until the last song. So, NY was deprived of the video aspect of the show but i guess thats the risk you take with live entertainment, if it was Miss Saigon, maybe the helicopter wouldn't work......or something like that.

Anywho, off to the Garden State we rolled for a show at the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. The band have actually been doing a few different songs in rehearsals for the last few days such as "Natalie", "Move Away", "Change Your Mind", "River" as well as a cover of the Animals classic "Please Don't let Me Be Misunderstood" in an effort to be able to change the setlists around quite a bit. i forsee the setlist changing nightly now on this leg of the US tour. Should keep things interesting.

If you get a chance, I'd love to hear your take on last night's show in Boston - this was my 5th show and the lights/graphics were the best yet - between the changed-up set list and the mood-altering-strobe effects, this was a different show... a grown up, confident Killers show. Thank you to you (and the rest of the crew really) for the time and commitment you've made to the band.

As a curiosity, do you sit with the sound guys during the show or are you side-stage? thought I might have seen you but didn't want to distract you, since you were at work after all.
I love your blog - thanks for sharing from such an enviable and unique perspective.
