Well actually it starts on Thursday morning. In our final stop of this promo time in New York, we headed onto Saturday Night Live!! This was something i was looking forward to as it is a show i remember watching when i was younger so to actually be at a taping was kinda cool. Like every TV show tho, SNL takes a long time and a lot of preperation to get it right.
So first up Thurs was the Band rehearsals and soundcheck in the morning and then Camera blocking rehearsals in the afternoon. The guys were doing 2 new songs. When you Were Young and Bones, where they were joined by the SNL band brass section.
Afterwards there was a bit of time to muck around on set so i got my pic as presenter done.

And i certainly wouldnt trust this news broadcast, would you?

Also outside the dressing room we found absolute proof that Ronnie has been starring in "My Name is Earl" during time off.

After a day off spent walking around NYC and going to Movies. I saw Jackass 2 and the US vs John Lennon in 1 day. It was back to NBC for the real thing. I was surprised to find out that SNL do actually do 2 shows every week. Firstly there ia dress rehearsal, which is recorded as if it was the real thing, they also use this as a test to see if anything needs to be changed or cut out of the broadcast. Then we go live at 11.29pm to the whole country. I thought it was a pretty good. The band played great and i thought Dane Cook did a great job at hosting. Im a big fan and think he is one of the best comics out there at the moment.
Hes also a heck of a nice guy too. I think the unsung heroes of SNL deserve a shout out too. The cast and crew do a fantastic job at pulling off what amounts to a large scale theatrical production in a very small space. The show and running schedule changes constantly with skits being written during commercial breaks sometimes. It is the true definition of organised chaos with sets and costumes fling around all the time, But it goes off without a hitch pretty much all the time. So well done!!
Im writing to you at almost 4am and ive to leave for the airport in 2 hours so this will prob be all you will here from me for a week or so. Off to LA tomorrrow to start rehearsals proper for the tour. Looking forward to it!!!
